  3. Qoricancha Cusco, Travel Adventure

Qoricancha also known as Temple of the Sun in Cusco center City, was the Inca temple on which was built the Convent of Santo Domingo by Spain conquers, a oldest religious building in Latin America.

The Sun Temple, may not be one of the largest buildings and the most important of all buildings constructed by the Incas, but so is the Temple of the Sun was the most revered and respected temple.

On the wall, with the typical Inca eaves of houses, rose the high thatched roof and delicately sliced thin. There was no triangular atrium that serves as the entrance to the temple and the wall colonial revolved right angles to Ahuacpinta.

A beautiful wall of the finest stonework, was the facade of the building which had only one door to the center of this large canvas. His only decoration was a web of a palm high pure gold and ten feet from the ground.

The colonial power that is located within the temple was built by the hands of indigenous people, is an octagonal water tank and the base is a checkerboard, some say q is of Inca origin, where the high priest poured the chicha as offering to his father Inti.

This street still has a stretch of the original perimeter wall nearly sixty feet long. No account ornament, and only its stones have a slight padding on the edges that reflect the austere aesthetic Inca. There are also three holes carved in one of the blocks of the second course, which could serve to drain rainwater from the patio or out of the offerings of chicha.

An outside view of the Sun Temple.

We know that the part inside the building has a vertical drop the outside curve clearly appreciate the wall while inclination angle.

Inside as will appreciated, the construction has vertical drop, but is clearly visible outside wall curvature and inclination angle thereof. On this temple and stone constructions made by the Incas, we must stress that there is no material between the joints of the stone blocks that make up these walls, and the space between blocks of stone almost nonexistent. It’s like taking a giant stone, cut precisely (exact measurements) and then to assembly at a predetermined location.

Location: Intersection Av El Sol and Calle Santo Domingo.
